Ken Kennison: How’s it going everybody! With news of the Triad and its pending draft, we felt it only right to bring in the resident draft expert here at Sportz Sportz Sportz, Sid Buckley III, for a good ol’ fashioned mock draft! Sid, how are you?
Sid Buckley III: Ken, I’m doing great. Tired, but great. It’s draft season. I’ve got my latest NBA mock draft out now on Sportz Sportz Sportz+++, and my 2028 NFL draft rankings are coming along great.
Ken Kennison: 2028?
Sid Buckley III: I know, I’m a little behind. But I had to find time to watch tape on these athletes in the Triad pool, Ken. There are some very interesting names here. Great athletes. High floors. High ceilings. Motors. Lots of motors.
Ken Kennison: You ever take a break, Sid?
Sid Buckley III: I’ll take a break when every jerkoff with a computer stops thinking they can do what I do, Ken.
Ken Kennison: Whoa, alright! Fair enough. Let’s not waste any of your time here and jump right in. First overall pick, we’re assuming goes to team TLS, for obvious reasons.
Sid Buckley III: That’s right, Ken. Every name on the board, a few different directions this team could go. But when you’re making the first overall pick, you want to hit a home run. You want to get a franchise player. That’s why I’ve got TLS taking Thaddeus Duke out of New York City.
Ken Kennison: Wow! Not surprising to see him go in round one, but what is it that sets him apart?
Sid Buckley III: It’s the intangibles, Ken. Look, everybody here deserves to be here, but this is a guy with a little extra. Experience. Motor. He’s got a MOTOR.
Ken Kennison: I get it, Sid! Moving on to the second overall pick, we’ve got team PIC on the clock.
Sid Buckley III: It’s a tough choice, but I’ve got Vhodka Black going here, Ken. A top-tier talent who would be in consideration for the #1 overall pick. Some character concerns there ultimately prevent that from happening here. Crude sense of humor, threatened Ruth Buckley.
Ken Kennison: Your grandma?!
Sid Buckley III: That’s right. But an undeniable talent who won’t fall far. Pairing Vhodka with PIC gives this team two people who know what it’s like to come up just short in The Great Illuminatus. Is that a recipe for disaster, or the kind of experience you want on a team?
Ken Kennison: Great question. A dynamic duo, but a lot of pressure put on them.
Sid Buckley III: To go with all that sexual tension.
Ken Kennison: Whatever you say, Sid! Final pick of the first round, team Welsh.
Sid Buckley III: Still a lot of talent on the board here, Ken. I see Welsh going with the big man from Monterey, California, Matt Knox. 6’6, 244. Welsh no doubt hopes Duke falls to him here, ,that’s unlikely. But this pick is hardly settling. Sometimes the bigger guys have a reputation of being all power and not a whole lot more. Not the case here. Knox can run you over, sure, but he’s no one trick pony. He may have the highest ceiling in the draft. One hell of a mafia player too.
Ken Kennison: Mafia?
Sid Buckley III: You don’t know mafia? Let me tell you all about-
Ken Kennison: You know what, we’re in a bit of a time crunch here, Sid. Let’s move into the second round we’ve got… Welsh again? A snake draft? What the hell is this?
Sid Buckley III: Your guess is as good as mine, Ken. With this pick, we’re going with Stephen Stratford. Sometimes you need a guy with a mean streak, the ability to get ugly. A grinder. This Aussie has it in spades. What he lacks in size he makes up for with technique. He fits the mold of what Welsh is looking for in a competitor.
Ken Kennison: A bit of a surprise there! Not a guy my simple mind is aware of. What do you see team PIC doing in round 2?
Sid Buckley III: Number five overall, I’m going with Catalina Cortes. PIC has a brand. He wants the fan favorites on his side. This pick has a high ceiling, high character, could be a real difference maker on this team, Ken.
Ken Kennison: And what do you see happening here at the end of round two?
Sid Buckley III: Last pick of the second round, I’ve got TLS taking Alexander Raven. He’s a bit of a sleeper, maybe not as celebrated as some of the names before him in this draft, but believe me, there is tremendous upside there.
Ken Kennison: How’s his motor?
Sid Buckley III: Don’t get me started on his motor, Ken.
Ken Kennison: Fair enough! Moving on to round three, we’ll put these picks up on the screen and let you run down the list here.
Pick 3.1 (TLS): LC Pinkston
Pick 3.2 (PIC): Helena Handbasket
Pick 3.3 (MW): Alice Knight
Sid Buckley III: Sure, Ken. Sometimes in a draft, you pick based on potential. Sometimes you pick based on schematic fit. And sometimes, you look for players that fit your culture. This is the round of culture fits. LC Pinkston joining TLS. A perfect match if you ask me, and I have it on good authority that LCP has been heavily scouted by TLS. Moving on to PIC taking Helena Handbasket. The first person to declare for this draft. Eager to compete. That’s PIC’s kind of competitor. And Alice Knight rejoining Marcus Welsh? I mean, come on.
Ken Kennison: It sure makes a lot of sense when you put it that way, Sid! Let’s wrap this up with round number four.
Pick 4.1 (MW): Penelope
Pick 4.2 (PIC): Lachlan Kane
Pick 4.3 (TLS): The Nickleman
Ken Kennison: What do you have to say about the final three picks here?
Sid Buckley III: Starting with Penelope here, this is a value pick for Marcus Welsh. To land a talent like this in the final round would be a steal. The kind of raw talent you’d kill to have on your team. Next up, Lachlan Kane going to PIC. Four words: White. Meat. Baby. Face.
Ken Kennison: Babyface is one word, Sid.
Sid Buckley III: Who’s the expert here, Ken? Ya jerkoff.
Ken Kennison: Whoa! Okay. Let’s wrap this up.
Sid Buckley III: Yeah, let’s. I’ve got a round of pickleball to play with Matthew Berry in a few. Where was I… The Nickleman going to TLS. Declared late for this draft. Is that why he’s so low on the board here? I’ll leave that up to you. He’s the best available at this spot, and has proven lately to be a winner.
