“Haha!”
“Take That!” a surprisingly deep female voice yells.
“OOF” the previously laughing female emits. Sounds like she’s taken a rather heavy blow.
Fade in. Four women are pillow-fighting atop a bed shaped like a pinecone. It’s three women we don’t recognize and one Billy Zane wearing a shiny lavender wig. He’s just dealt the crushing blow.
The woman flies off the bed and lands hard.
“Gotcha!” Billy points and laughs as the other two women lean in, laughing while looking at one another nervously. “Who’s next?” They both shriek and duck.
“Nobody knows...the trouble I’ve seen…” A sorrow filled voice sounds from the corner. Billy Zane and the two girls turn and find Adi seated on a chair, leaning forward with her chin atop her fist.
“Adi!” Billy Zane exclaims, dropping the pillow and bouncing off the bed, hustling over. The other two women do the same, dragging the unconscious third along with them.
“Are you feeling well?” Billy asks, moving some hair out of his face.
“I’m just sad, Billy Zane.”
He puts his index finger under her chin and lifts her head up, “What’s got you down, Adi clown?”
“It’s Marcus. He’s missing.”
They all gasp.
“I know.”
“It sounds like you need a song to cheer you up!” The previously unconscious girl awakens with glee and begins to sing.
“Shut up!” Adi violently interrupts what was sounding like a pretty solid start to a moving song. “I’ll sing it myself.”
Billy Zane stands up and looks out with determination and focus in his eyes. “It’s a sing off! We’ve got ourselves a sing off!” He moves some of the lavender hair out of his face.
They all lean in, especially Billy.
“How Soon is Now” by The Smiths begins. A dark, quiet, bare apartment. Low rent. Bad area.
A man that looks very much like Marcus Welsh stays sharp performing push ups. He remains mentally focused. He’s alone. Isolated. We can hear his thoughts.
He looks like a killer.
And then, it freezes. But the music keeps going. We pull back and see the actual Marcus Welsh getting up off his couch, leaving the film on pause. He heads toward a kitchen cabinet and grabs a bottle of vodka. He takes a long pull and swallows. He pauses and then pukes in the sink. He does it again. Puke. He does it again. Puke. He repeats the process until the bottle is all gone.
He lazily walks back to the living room. His eyes dart to the side. He spots the elephant hourglass.
“What? You judging me too?”
Welsh stares at the TV. “Sure, I could’ve stayed with her and been happy. But no I just had to come back to this shit. I hate this fuckin shit.”
“And you, over there, just sliding away. What for? WHAT FOR? Are you my grim fuckin reaper or something?”
Marcus lays back, exasperated, “She was great, ya know? I was happy. Finally, in this world of pro wrestling, I’d found happiness.”
He pauses. He feels compelled. An urge swelling within.
TRIAD lovin, had me a blast.
We cut to Adi in her bedroom.
TRIAD lovin, happened so fast.
Billy Zane and the girls lean in.
I met a girl crazy for me
Welsh’s hand rubs his forehead
Met a boy cute as can be
Billy Zane grabs his chest and sighs
TRIAD days drifting away
Welsh shakes his head
To-ah! Oh, the Wit Trials nights
Adi sways with Billy holding her shoulders
Well-a, well-a, well-a, huh
Welsh hears something and stands.
Tell me more, tell me more
The hairy leather-clad bikers appear, surrounding Welsh.
Did you get very far?
One of them wiggles his eyebrows and squeezes the air with his hand.
Tell me more, tell me more
Billy Zane is resting his head on Adi’s shoulder
Like does he have a car?
Adi looks at the girl like ‘of course, it’s 2024’
Dual shot of Adi and the girls swaying. Welsh and the bikers taking two steps forward before gliding two steps back
Uh huh (doo doo)
Uh huh (doo doo)
Uh huh (doo doo doo doo doo)
She walked by me, I got a cramp
The bikers rub the insides of their legs, wincing.
He ran by me, got my suit damp
Billy Zane does the ‘oh girl!’ face, covering his mouth with his hand.
I saved her life, from that damn clown
Welsh flexes. The Bikers squeeze his bicep.
He showed off, clowning around
Billy Zane has a clown nose on. The other girls squeeze it and they all laugh
Shot of Adi standing on her chair with Billy Zane and the girls on their knees looking up.
TRIAD sun, something's begun
But ah! Oh, those Wit Trials nights
Welsh snapping his fingers and strutting while the bikers surround him with jazz fingers
Well-a, well-a, well-a, huh
Tell me more, tell me more
Was it love at first sight?
The girls and Billy Zane have their hands cupped, staring up at Adi.
Tell me more, tell me more
Were her glutes really tight?
Welsh does a double take as the bikers swing their arms around in rhythm and coming to a stop as they dramatically point at Welsh.
Dow, doobie do, doobie do
Shot of Adi dancing on her chair with Zane and the girls rising to their feet
Doobie, doobie, doobie
Shot of Welsh doing hand pistols and jiving forward while the bikers dance around him
Dow, doobie do, doobie do
Adi with her hands in the air, spinning around as Billy and the girls shake their hands in the air
Doobie, doobie, doobie, dow
Welsh stops doing the pistol jive and dramatically throws his thumbs over his shoulder as the biker’s lean back with dramatic expressions
Took her trolling in the discord
The bikers are on all fours pounding the ground as Welsh shakes his shoulders and gyrates his hips
We posted cds on the message board
Adi bends over with her palms down. Billy’s palms meet hers as the other three girls shimmy and stare at the two.
We made out under the dock
Welsh brings his hands together while the bikers all look up and hug his legs.
We stayed up 'til three o'clock
Billy and the girls sigh as Adi reaches for her chest and falls from the chair. They catch her.
Dual shot of Adi laying in the arms of Billy and the girls. Welsh’s legs in the clutches of the bikers.
TRIAD fling, don't mean a thing
But ah! Oh, the Wit Trials nights
Whoa, whoa, whoa
The bikers at Welsh’s legs urge him on
Tell me more, tell me more
But you don't gotta gag
Welsh looks down confused
The girls and Billy carry Adi around the room
Tell me more, tell me more
'Cause he sounds like a drag
Billy gasps and pie faces the girl who said ‘drag’ out of view.
The bikers stand and line up. Welsh dances toward them, interlocking arms with the first and spinning, then doing the same with the next and so on. Adi, Billy, and the girls dance across the room, jumping with their arms extended forward in a very elegant, ballerina like pose
Shoo bop bop, shoo bop bop
Shoo bop bop, shoo bop bop
Shoo bop bop, shoo bop bop
Shoo bop bop, yeah!
Welsh and the bikers throw their hands in the air. Same with Adi and Billy and the girls.
He got friendly, holding my hand
Billy grabs Adi’s hand and brings it to his chest, sighing.
Well, she got friendly down in the sand
The bikers let out a ‘OH YEA!’ as they surround Welsh and shove him around
He was sweet, just a darling
Billy and the girls dramatically faint.
Well, she was good, you know what I mean
The bikers gyrate and hump around and against Welsh’s body
Welsh pulls his legs away from the bikers and raises his hands in the air. Adi takes her hand from Billy and uses it to touch her own heart.
Summer heat, boy and girl meet
But ah! Oh, the summer nights
Whoa, whoa, whoa
The bikers. Billy and the girls. They all fling themselves to the ground.
Tell me more, tell me more
How much dough did he spend?
One of the girls asks. Billy and the others roll their eyes.
Tell me more, tell me more
Could we become more than friends?
Welsh does another double take as the rest of the bikers try to distract him.
The music slows. The atmosphere softens. Melancholy creeps in.
Adi staggers away from Billy and her friends.
It turned darker, that's where it ends
Welsh yanks his limbs away from the grabby bikers.
So I told her we'd still be friends
Adi stares at a painting she saved from the first TRIAD Draft Party
Then we made our true love vow
Welsh stares at the elephant hour glass
Wonder what she's doing now
Split screen of Adi and Welsh both looking out through a window, into the starry night sky
TRIAD dreams ripped at the seams
They lower their heads.
But, oh
They slowly start to smile
Those Wit Trials
Adi raises her arms. Welsh shoots a finger into the air.
Nights!
Billy and the girls kneel around Adi hugging her. The bikers sneak up behind Welsh and put their hands all over his body.
Billy stands, crying his eyes out. He hugs Adi. The bikers spin Welsh around and consume him with a group hug.
