How would you rate The Great Illuminatus on a scale of 1-100? 100, without a doubt the best in the whole thing, as it was meant to be. What was the best 'tier'? I'm bias, but I do actually think Tier 2 was the best overall. The outcomes felt important, there was a real uncertainty, and the individual stories were just perfect. What was the best spot? Welsh constantly thrusting the mask at Raven, and just getting rejected over and over. Again, bias. But the mental image cracked me up. What was the best segment? Captain Stirling making a return. Best moment of the show? The final few parts where the pyramid was collapsing, as we saw people come together to try and help others escape. Most shocking moment of the show? The finish. Fucking Princess Bride. What did you think about the match/event concept? Really cool. Wasn't sure how it was going to tie wrestling in to the concept, and I think it was done really well. I think at times there was a loss of sight about the wrestling part for the sake of the spectacle in the different Trials matches in Bravery, Strength and Wit. The Great Illuminatus captured the wrestling and zany weirdness blend perfectly. How was your experience in TRIAD? We all had moments of despair, I think. This field is tough beyond tough. Absolute killers in the game not even making it is brutal. I think I came to really appreciate where I was by the end of it. Part of me wishes I hadn't got the entry in Bravery, so I had more chances to compete and improve throughout the entirety of it. If a Great Illuminatus event was held once a year would you participate? Yes, I would. I don't think anything has helped me improve as much as this experience has. Anything else you'd like to add: Thanks for taking a risk on a guy who 12 months ago, I don't think almost anyone outside of Knox knew.
How would you rate The Great Illuminatus on a scale of 1-100? 100 What was the best 'tier'? I liked them all What was the best spot? Strat appearing to be Vhodka’s dragon and then going into her heart was my favorite thing about the show What was the best segment? I liked all of the history of the triad pieces that were intercut in What was the best line(s) of commentary? Catalina hairless cat Best moment of the show? Welsh going back for Vhodka Most shocking moment of the show? Welsh going back for Vhodka, Helena showing up, PIC and Welsh getting trapped What did you think about the match/event concept? Phenomenal. How was your experience in TRIAD? I’m very sad it’s over and I wish it wasn’t. If a Great Illuminatus event was held once a year would you participate? If you’d have me. Suggestions? Now kiss. Anything else you'd like to add:
How would you rate The Great Illuminatus on a scale of 1-100? 100.1 What was the best 'tier'? The final one, that's what we all worked for after all. What was the best spot? Selfishly I enjoyed Meyhu backstabbing Parker and learning from past mistakes, even at the expense of someone who had helped him What was the best segment? I didn't sign up for history this semester! What was the best line(s) of commentary?
Hood: You mean we’re gonna make it through this event without ONE death?
MoMo: Hey. It’s not over yet. King might kill PIC.
Hood: Ohhh...fingers crossed.
Best moment of the show? Raven's run Most shocking moment of the show? The only way they could stop Team TLS was to put us against each other! Am I right? Who's with me?! What did you think about the match/event concept? Not a stranger to the Illuminatus, but it's still a great concept. TRIAD as a whole was a different beast. Very cool. You can tell by the attention it drew that it was a hit. Excellent job you guys. How was your experience in TRIAD? It was a blast for the most part. Met a lot of awesome writers, including my three new best friends, and got to work on another character a bit. I started off just "covering" the event as Sid Buckley because I didn't want to get sucked into the grind of writing every week, and boy did that fail. If a Great Illuminatus event was held once a year would you participate? I told myself this event would be it for me, it's just getting increasingly hard to fit this in over the last few years... So yeah probably I would, who am I kidding? Suggestions? Is the suggestion box still up? Anything else you'd like to add: First, congratulations to Cat! Well deserved. You were great this whole time.
I just want to thank the three of you one more time for putting on such a cool event and just all the work that went into it, and for giving Dadbod a chance! If this was my last hurrah (lol it's efedding), what a way to go out.
Good luck to everyone in what they do next, both in and out of the game.
Let's get one last round of trivia in. Team Air Fryer showed out in the Illuminatus btw

How would you rate The Great Illuminatus on a scale of 1-100?
100, no cap, in the top tier of efedding stuff I've done. Like to the point that it's nuts it was pulled off so well, hopefully this doesn't seem like I'm just giving a tug job due to results, unless I'm suppose to do that then I guess I'll get tuggin'.
What was the best 'tier'?
Tier Four probably for me because selfishly we got Cat/Vhodka again and I really needed that payoff after all the Twitter abuse, plus getting King/Meyhu as a straight one-on-one was great for a callback to the Wit Trials finale.
What was the best spot?
Parker gets a little sinister due to pyramid hallucination shenanigans and almost permanently cripples Meyhu, but ultimately comes back to his senses and takes the high ground... Only for Meyhu to cheap shot him and take the win. Great character beat for both guys and after a kick-ass showing, it stings that much more that Parker's big mistake in the match is trying to be a better human being than his opponent and that costing him the win.
What was the best segment?
I loved the Triad backstory throughlines, I think the Alexander the Great one was my favorite. My RP arc since the Strength Trials has had a bunch of ominous artifact backstory, so I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff. The actual historical tie-ins here gave a lot more oomph to the Indiana Jones vibes, and I'm very into the idea that historical figures were also fighting over a prize that a bunch of wrestlers are now fighting over. That kind of thing is also very fighting game-y and that's exactly my shit.
What was the best line(s) of commentary?
Hood: "I think so? I don’t know. One of those sex diseases causes hallucinations I’m pretty sure."
This is just relatable because it's how I would backpedal after talking about something I'm not positive about without full-on admitting I got it wrong.
Also:
MoMo: Cat’s got a dragon.
Hood: Meanwhile Vhodka has some old dude following her around that she just can’t shake. That sounds about right.
Best moment of the show?
Alexander Raven proves he's the first bird by pinning Knox. I feel like even Knox was kinda rooting for Alexander Raven here, it was hard not to and Knox can't consider me saying this a betrayal of our friendship because pretty much everyone wanted Alexander Raven to pull this off. I wish he could've been drafted for the Strength or Wit Trials, but after the Bravery Trials, seeing him back here and going on a tear was a great payoff and I'm very excited to see where he goes from here. Hopefully with several more wins over Knox.
Most shocking moment of the show?
Cat getting a dragon and then Vhodka answering with her own non-dragon dragon, both using their assist characters in a big fight.
What did you think about the match/event concept?
Loved it. Obviously there was a ton of build here, but the tier setup gave it some Royal Rumble/Gauntlet flavor where people were able to stand out by lasting deep into the match, even if they didn't go all the way. We've already seen outlandish stuff in the other Trials, but if you came in just on this event, the Triad history interludes were a good way to setup how nuts the matches get later. So it was a hybrid of classic rumble/gauntlet/endurance match punctuated by actual reality warping. I haven't seen anything executed quite like this, so super original concept wise and I think it was pulled off pretty well. Also as someone who can't comprehend running a fed or even an event like this I'm fucking amazed it was pulled so well with all these moving parts.
How was your experience in TRIAD?
It was awesome, loved it, even kinda kicking myself for sitting out the Wit Trials. I said earlier this is top tier in my efedding experiences and that's also part of the reason I'm gonna take a break for a bit because this is a tough act to follow and because I am very tired all the time.
If a Great Illuminatus event was held once a year would you participate?
Pretty sure I would, probably with a different character though.
Suggestions?
Everyone who wants to take a break should take a break, but I also hope some of the participants can use momentum here to keep rolling in other places. As someone who doesn't plan out things like this, I don't have any suggestions on that end. Three's a magic number though, so surely there's another super powerful artifact that's been split into three pieces for next time.
Anything else you'd like to add:
Thanks for having me, thanks for running the event, I'm probably gonna sound like a broken record. I appreciate the support from you guys and I'm still kinda shocked with how it worked out considering how many killers are involved here, but Vhodka said some shit about accepting compliments, so I'll just say thanks again for everything from you guys and for everyone who participated.
How would you rate The Great Illuminatus on a scale of 1-100? 100. Perfect culmination. From a competitive standpoint it only could have been better with a full house of rps. But that didn't affect how it was written, and as usual, you gave everyone - even those who couldn't get something up - something to hang their hat on.
What was the best 'tier'? Gotta agree with the majority and say Tier 2. I think the game shifted the moment the TRIAD holders entered the fray, and it became a different sort of competition. That was actually really useful to prevent the match-ups feeling repetitive, but in Tier 2 it felt like the stakes rose exponentially from Tier 1. Maybe it's a product of not having the no shows, but it was also a product of the way the matches were written. Everyone was fighting for their lives.
What was the best spot? I really liked Meyhu's leg getting taken out. It provided a great equaliser for someone with one less match under his belt so theoretically being 'fresher'. With King, the equaliser was often the TRIAD piece. Meyhu's was just about good wrestling psychology.
What was the best segment? The absence of LCP.
What was the best line(s) of commentary? Hood: Getting a little taste of his own medicine. Meyhu working over a bodypart and, if we’re being honest, probably the most important one.
MoMo: Yes, the brain is pretty important.
Best moment of the show? Parker beating SEB. Knox beating Stratford. Raven is the best bird. Flip a coin. Then flip it however many more times you need to in order to pick between three options.
Most shocking moment of the show? Poor PIC. Also, fuck him for taking some of King's power and then wasting it on the rest of those bozos. If King had kept that power...
What did you think about the match/event concept? Awesome. I had seen one of the prior Illuminatuses... Illuminati... whatever, and thought it was fantastic. TRIAD as a whole added a whole extra emphasis to it.
How was your experience in TRIAD? The story of what was and what could have been. I've only just started stretching out from my usual comfort zone, and the 2k rp limit definitely took me even further from it. I've really appreciated to have the opportunity to participate twice and learn and grow from it, not to mention get to know a few other weirdos in this hobby.
If a Great Illuminatus event was held once a year would you participate? It's all about availability for me, hence why I didn't sign up for Bravery even though I was in the Discord and everything from the outset. If the stars align.
Suggestions? So... because you Princess Brided us, we can choose whether or not that's the real ending right? Cause Kieran feels that's not how it ended at all.
Anything else you'd like to add: I did this for Strength, and there was no review thread for Wit so didn't do it then, but I'll bring it back here. A few words to everyone: Cat Cortes - Goddamn it. 0-3 against you?! You were just so in the zone it was a tall order for anyone to crack. Congratulations. You sure as he'll earned it. Matt Meyhu - One of the best things to come out of this for me is having gotten to work both alongside and against you. It's been an absolute pleasure and I hope that even if you're stepping back, you pop into things like a potential annual Great Illuminatus. Vhodka Black - I'm not sure I would have been drawn to this if it wasn't for you. Partly to get the opportunity to work against you, and partly just because the way you were my main link into Arcadia at the time it gave me some faith that if you're in then it must be okay. Sean Parker - Thanks for being an absolute gem. You were an excellent sounding board for me, but outside of that, the growth in your rping is second to none. Well maybe first equal... Alexander Raven - The mantle is yours, baby. First bird. What a story. I both love and hate that my shithead character was the one to stop the rise. Let's just agree to keep the TRIAD Discord full of trivia at really inopportune times for the Americans. Shawn Warstein - If there had to be one of your characters in the finale, I'm glad it was Shawn. Something I can always give you credit for is the random messages of feedback you send about great things you see. Can't understate the positive impact that has on the recipient (i.e. me) - even if you did jinx me a couple of times. SEB - I said this after Strength but I'm so glad I caught you early in that trial. You've even fixed the biggest critique I used to have about your writing, haha (the way you used to handle speech tags). Your style is a great fit for where you are now the Universal Champion, and at some stage I'll owe you a match. At some stage... Matt Knox - The way you participated here is a testament to what can happen when people play this game for fun rather than for keeps. All I can say to that is: respect. Sarah Wolf - Great appreciation for the collaborations during Strength, and seeing the story we set up playing out in your rp here was great. Maybe I have some bias in that, but I really thought that story was excellent, and I love how you try to build consistency in character from story to shoot sections. Paul Freedom - The stones on ya to bring something completely different to the finals. Like Knox, that shows you're here for fun above all. It's been great to get to work with you a little and see some of the little things you do that sell Freedom as a slightly bumbling mess. See ya around. Sahara - Was curious if you had it in you for those final, but a part of me suspected you might give it a miss. It's a shame. Your handle on storytelling is phenomenal. Stephen Stratford - While life has caught up for you right now, you're another of the people who I'm grateful that TRIAD had given me the opportunity to get to know. I very much value your perspective on stories and creativity of ideas, and hope to see you back soon. CYPH3R - Apologies for missing you first time. I still think it takes a lot of balls to write this character. To peel back the curtain for myself, when I left King back in 2010 I had him going down a nasty path. Ive had to do a lot to rehumanise him since bringing him back. Meanwhile, there's you having your cake and eating it too: a dastardly sack of shit while still adding some really human elements. A tip of the cap, sir. Looking forward to what you do next after the Thad story.
TLS - Thanks for reaching out after the show went up, and I also want to highlight that I think it's awesome your view on rps was somewhat different to the other two. Helped keep the event fresh, haha but also keep us trying to find the secret to improving rps so you all enjoy it. Welsh - Almost all of the feedback for the event itself is for you. Like with Vhodka, getting a chance to work with you was one of the biggest draws for me to give this a shot. You didn't disappoint, and one of the things I appreciate most is how receptive to feedback I found you - both broadly (eg our chat after Strength) and when I would pitch ideas. Thanks for doing the thankless stuff. PIC - Thanks so much for taking a chance on me twice. It's an amazing vote of confidence given we didn't really know each other. While you were a three headed beast as owners, I think people tended to view Welsh as running the ship because of his OCW history. I think the more I looked at it, the more I saw you doing so much of the day-to-day people management stuff which sounds kinda horrible NGL. Thank you, and best of luck.
Now I finish up a few more rps (including 2 for these CD boards) and then I'm fading away for a while. See ya around.
